Follow the steps below to setup email on your Android phone or tablet. Your device might look a little different than the one in the examples, but the settings remain the same.
Step 1 - Open your email app
Your email app might look a little different than the one in the example or even have a different name or different colour icon.
Step 2 - Choose the "Add New Account" option and go to the next page.
You have to add a new account so that you can enter your email address and server settings manually.
Step 3 - Type in your username and password
In this step, make sure that your username is your full email address, e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org and not just your name e.g. test. Once you have entered these settings, tap on the button that reads "MANUAL SETUP". This will ask you what type of account you would like to setup, POP3, IMAP and other types. Choose IMAP (This is best for phones and tablets).
Step 4 - Enter email and server settings
In this step, make sure that you fill in all fields. The email or "Email address" field should contain your full email address. The "Username" field should also contain your full email address. Make sure you have typed in your password correctly. For the IMAP settings, make sure to type in the "IMAP server" and "Port" fields exactly as your settings that you received from your hosting provider. Your server for imap and smtp will almost always be in the format "mail.yourdomain.co.za".
Step 5 - Done
Once you have filled in all the settings, you can tap on the "SIGN IN" button or "Done" button. This will test your account settings and take you to your inbox.
